A Falcon 9 rocket built by SpaceX was successfully launched by NASA at 3:22 p.m. eastern time on May 30, 2020 in Florida from the same Kennedy Space Center launch pad used to send Apollo crews to the moon a half-century ago. This historic launch marks a new era in using a commercially built spacecraft and puts the United States back in the business of launching astronauts into orbit from U.S. soil for the first time in nearly a decade. The SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft carried by a Falcon 9 rocket is headed to the International Space Station on an open-ended mission.
