MRS Fall 2024 Wrap-Up: A Celebration of Materials Science

The 2024 Materials Research Society (MRS) Fall Meeting, held from December 2–6, was an inspiring showcase of cutting-edge research and collaboration in materials science. MSE Supplies was proud to participate in this prestigious event, engaging with researchers, industry leaders, and innovators. We extend our appreciation and thanks to the meeting chairs, Philippe Bergonzo, Ageeth Bol, Keith Brown, Alessandro Molle, and Winston Tumps Ireeta, for their outstanding leadership in organizing such a successful conference.

The symposiums and meetings at this year’s event highlighted transformative research and discussions that promise to drive advancements in science and technology. Sessions like Democratizing AI in Materials Science, Advanced Characterization Techniques for Battery Materials, and Emergent Properties in Actinide Materials explored innovative solutions and methodologies. These forums not only laid the groundwork for future discoveries but also offered critical insights to enhance existing technologies across industries.

Congratulations to the attendees whose exceptional contributions were recognized at the event. Hongyou Fan received the MRS Medal for his innovative work on pressure-induced nanomaterial synthesis, while Claudia Felser was honored with the Von Hippel Award for her groundbreaking research in topology and chirality. Sharon C. Glotzer delivered the David Turnbull Lecture, advancing our understanding of entropy-driven assembly in colloidal systems. We also commend Babak Anasori, recipient of the Kavli Early Career Lectureship, for his research on MXenes, and Fudong Han, honored with the MRS Robinson Science and Technology Award for his advancements in solid-state batteries.
