    Vacuum Drying Ovens

Vacuum drying ovens maintain a level of vacuum and inert gas pressure inside the chamber during the drying process. Over the course of drying, the gas pressure decreases, causing the solvent's boiling point to go down. This effect allows the vacuum to remove moisture from the material at lower temperatures.

This oven type is preferred for volatile and heat-sensitive substances that cannot be dried safely at higher heat. While the process allows for drying at lower temperatures, it also minimizes oxidation, making it ideal for explosive or flammable substances. Additionally, vacuum drying improves oxygen removal and heat transfer for more efficient drying.

Many fields rely on vacuum drying ovens, including pharmaceuticals, agriculture, biochemistry and environmental protection. Common applications for these ovens include:

    • Moisture removal: Industrial laboratory ovens of all types are used for moisture removal, including vacuum drying types. These ovens can remove moisture from products and equipment.
    • Oxidation prevention: When oxygen interacts with certain materials, it causes oxidation, scaling and corrosion. When it's crucial to prevent these reactions, as it often is in pharmaceuticals, vacuum ovens are an excellent resource.
    • Outgassing: Various metal lubricants release chemical vapor and moisture, affecting product quality. Vacuum drying ovens remove these residues in a process known as outgassing or off-gassing.
    • Degassing: Vacuum ovens can be used during bake-out and degassing, where increasing the temperature in a vacuum forces volatile chemicals out of an object. From there, heated liquids release gasses that can be captured and removed.

    Forced-Air Drying Ovens

Forced-air drying ovens use a heater to generate heat energy and circulate it with a blower to increase the oven's temperature. The drying boxes on these ovens feature ventilation or exhaust ports to release moist air and manage humidity levels inside the oven. Independent controls allow users to set specific temperatures inside the drying box.

The circulation system in a forced air drying oven ensures materials are dried evenly. These drying ovens also offer low energy consumption, high efficiency and reliability for drying requirements.

Industries that rely on forced-air drying ovens include chemicals, food production, electronic components, research and medicine. These ovens are valuable for applications where high temperatures will not affect an item's quality. Common uses include:

    • Drying
    • Baking
    • Roasting
    • Dehydrating
    • Temperature testing
    • Sterilizing
