Three-Dimensional Shaker TL / WS

Edmund Bühler 3D Shakers TL / WS

The Edmund Bühler 3D Shakers are superior products for both biological and materials science applications. Their slow motion enables gentle, uniform wetting for a wide variety of scenarios. 3D Shakers are well suited for petri dishes, culture bottles, and other similar products.

3D Shaker & Additional Tray

The TL 2 (6139 000) is a compact model that weighs only 9.1 kg. The unit comes standard with a tray and rubber mat. An additional tray (0060 001) may be purchased as an accessory. The gentle, orbital motion makes it ideal for staining protocols in petri dishes, hybridization reactions, and any protocol in which even surface mixing is desired.

 3D Shakers and Rack System

The WS 10 and TL 10 both shake with velocities of 1 - 23 rpm. Both have 340 x 340 mm platforms. The 3D Shaker TL 10 works with slow, three-dimensional motion and an adjustable tilt of between 0° and 9°. The WS 10 works with slow, linear tilting motion and a fixed angle of tilt of 5°. Both models come with a capacity of 10 kg and an optional multi-story rack with three shelves. Additional shelves (0051 502 and 0051 413)  may be purchased for the three story rack system.

Why should an MSE customer buy a 3D Shaker?

Biologists like to use three-dimensional shakers for the following applications:

  • Staining and destaining polyacrylamide gels
  • Reactions of enzymes immobilized on surfaces
  • Western hybridization of antibodies to proteins on membranes
  • Nucleic acid hybridization

The latter three applications, that have long been performed on inert polymer membranes, are now being performed on graphene and graphene oxide biosensors.

MSE Supplies sells a wide variety of graphene films. Janire Peña-Bahamonde and co-workers (2018) have reviewed biosensor applications of graphene films in order to demonstrate how graphene has become an integral component of biological research. Free to Download Paper

This free review paper is a must read for MSE Supplies graphene customers who wish to stay current.

For MSE customers who wish to add functional groups to graphene films, cermaic wafers, or other materials purchased at MSE Supplies, what better way than a three-dimensional shaker? For decades, biologists have been successfully using 3D shakers for reactions involving surfaces.
