Rechargeable aqueous zinc-ion batteries, one of the most promising multivalent ion batteries, are particularly attractive for large-scale energy storage because of their high safety, environmental friendliness, abundant resources, and high theoretical energy densities. High purity Zinc trifluoromethanesulfonate Zn(OTf)₂or zinc triflate is the zinc salt of trifluoromethanesulfonic acid. It is the most commonly used electrolyte salt for zinc ion batteries. It is also used as a Lewis acid catalyst in silylation reactions and greener amine synthesis.
