B A S Messiha et al found that perindopril ameliorates Alzheimer’s disease progression. Low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels in rat serum and hippocampus were determined using LDL-C colorimetric assay kit (E-BC-K205).
LDL-C levels in serum and hippocampal tissue were significantly increased in OVX/HFFD/D-Gal group, and decreased in perindopril treatment group. (a. significant change with normal control; b. significant change with OVX/HFFD/D-Gal).
Detection Principle
The coloured substance have a maximum absorption peak at 546 nm. Measure the OD value at 546 nm and the LDL-C content in the sample can be calculated.

Note: The reagents must be stored strictly according to the preservation conditions in the above table. The reagents in different kits cannot be mixed with each other. For a small volume of reagents, please centrifuge before use, so as not to obtain sufficient amount of reagents.
Technical Data:
Parameter:
Intra-assay Precision
Three human serum samples were assayed in replicates of 20 to determine precision within an assay (CV = Coefficient of Variation).
Parameters | Sample 1 | Sample 2 | Sample 3 |
Mean (mmol/L) | 1.20 | 5.80 | 9.60 |
%CV | 5.8 | 5.4 | 5.3 |
Inter-assay Precision
Three human serum samples were assayed 20 times in duplicate by three operators to determine precision between assays.
Parameters | Sample 1 | Sample 2 | Sample 3 |
Mean (mmol/L) | 1.20 | 5.80 | 9.60 |
%CV | 10.6 | 9.9 | 9.5 |
Sensitivity
The analytical sensitivity of the assay is 0.04 mmol/L. This was determined by adding two standard deviations to the mean O.D. obtained when the zero standard was assayed 20 times, and calculating the corresponding concentration.
