Magnesium aluminate (MgAl6O10 ) single crystals have lower lattice mismatch and thermal expansion mismatch than MgAl2O4. The lower melting point allows MgAl6O10 to have better crystal quality and larger available sizes than MgAl2O4. It is often used as the substrate for the epitaxial of Gallium Nitride (GaN) and Zinc Oxide (ZnO).
