The MSE PRO™ 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) is a fluorinated pyrimidine analog that acts by interfering with DNA synthesis. It is an inhibitor of DNA/RNA synthesis. It has been used in research as a potent antitumor agent that interferes with DNA synthesis by noncompetitively inhibiting thymidylate synthase (TS). Disruption of this enzyme prevents the synthesis of pyrimidine thymidine, which affects DNA replication. Slightly soluble in ethanol.
