MSE PRO™ Clostripain (Endoproteinase-Arg-C)
The MSE PRO™ Clostridial protease is a collagenase-related double-stranded protease isolated from Clostridium histolyticum. It has highly restricted substrate specificity for the Arg-Xaa peptide bond. Therefore, Clostridium protease has been explored as a potential protein sequencing enzyme. It has also been investigated as a catalyst for the condensation of pharmacologically important peptides containing Arg-Pro bonds. Activation is dependent on dithiothreitol, cysteine, or other sulfhydryl-containing reagents. The enzyme can be inhibited by oxidizing agents and sulfhydryl reactants as well as Co2+, Cu2+, Cd2+ and heavy metal ions.
