MSE PRO™ Germanium (Ge) Flat Windows, Round Shape
A germanium (Ge) window is an optical component made of germanium material, typically used as a protective window for electronic sensors or detectors in external environments. It has a circular shape and is commonly employed to separate the internal and external components of instruments, providing protection for the internal devices.
Key features include high transparency, anti-reflective properties, and high thermal stability. It exhibits high transmittance in both visible and infrared wavelengths, with low reflectance and absorption rates. These characteristics make it widely used in the field of infrared optics, such as in infrared imaging systems and infrared spectrometer systems.
Germanium boasts good mechanical and thermal conductivity properties, with minimal absorption at 10.6 μm, making germanium windows the preferred choice for CO2 laser applications. They are also used as substrates for various filters. Due to germanium's chemical inertness, it is insoluble in water and exhibits excellent chemical stability.
Coating treatments can also be applied to enhance its transparency and anti-reflective properties. Please contact us for customized coating services.
