MSE PRO™ Glucose-6-Phosphate Dehydrogenase, Suspension
The MSE PRO™ Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, known as glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, is an oxidoreductase that acts on the donor CH-OH group with NAD+ or NADP+ as the acceptor. It has a molecular weight of 54 kDa and exists as a homodimer. Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase is mainly involved in the pentose phosphate pathway, but also acts slowly on other sugars such as β-D-glucose. The enzyme is activated by its substrate glucose-6-phosphate, and defects in G6PD, the gene that expresses glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase in humans, result in glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, which can lead to non-immune hemolytic anemia.
