The MSE PRO™ Hemoglobin is a complex protein found in red blood cells and is responsible for transporting oxygen to various tissues and organs in the body. Hemoglobin is a protein molecule consisting of four subunits containing iron ions, which give it the ability to bind and transport oxygen, and has a molecular weight of 64.5 kDa.The mechanism of action is based on its binding and release of oxygen. In the lungs, hemoglobin molecules combine with oxygen in the alveoli to form oxyhemoglobin. Oxyhemoglobin is then transported through the bloodstream to various tissues of the body. In the tissues, oxygenated hemoglobin releases oxygen to form deoxyhemoglobin, which is delivered to cells for energy metabolism.
