The MSE PRO™ Tripotassium citrate monohydrate alias potassium citrate is the tripotassium salt of citric acid. It is hygroscopic. Insoluble in ethanol. The aqueous solution is basic to litmus, pH about 8.5. is a very promising organic salt for the formation of aqueous two-phase systems (ATPS). Used as a phase component and buffer in the characterization of ionic-liquid-aqueous biphasic systems (ABS).

Applications:
Used in the preparation of buffer solutions. Used to prepare citrate-supplemented water to feed Car5A, Car5B and DKO breeding pairs of mice, where citrate supplementation enhances perinatal mortality. It enhances bone mineral density and thus can be used to treat osteoporosis disorders. In addition, it can neutralize protein-induced metabolic acidosis. It is used in copper dipping, copper plating, gold plating and other processes. As a food additive, food grade potassium citrate can be used to regulate acidity with potassium nutritional supplement source; it can also be made into highly efficient compound fertilizer, and can also be used in paper making and other industries.
