MSE PRO™ Proteinase K from Tritirachium Album
The MSE PRO™ Protease K (PROK) is a serine protease with broad specificity for aliphatic, aromatic, and other hydrophobic amino acids.PROK has a molecular weight of 27,000 daltons and is Ca2+ dependent for activity. It is not inactivated by metal ion chelators such as EDTA, mercapto reagents, PCMB, TLCK or TPCK. It also remains active in 0.5% sodium dodecyl sulfate. It can be inhibited by PMSF or DFP, favoring proteolytic inactivation of nucleases during DNA and RNA isolation.

Applications:
For hydrolytic inactivation of nucleases during the isolation of DNA and RNA. Used to remove endotoxin-bound cationic proteins such as lysozyme and ribonuclease A. Used to determine the localization of enzymes on cell membranes. Used in the processing of paraffin-embedded tissue sections to expose antigen-binding sites for antibody labeling. Used in biochemical studies, etc.
