The MSE PRO™ Sodium dodecyl sulfate is an anionic surfactant, white or light yellow powder, soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol, insensitive to alkali and hard water, almost insoluble in chloroform, ether and light petroleum. It has decontamination, emulsification and excellent foaming power. It is a kind of anionic surfactant which is slightly toxic to human body, and its biodegradation degree can reach more than 90%.

Applications:
Anionic surfactant. It can disintegrate the cell membrane, bind with the hydrophobic part of the membrane protein and separate it from the membrane. High concentration of SDS can also break the non-covalent bonds such as ionic bond and hydrogen bond in the protein, and even change the conformation of the protein. It is used for electrophoretic separation of proteins and lipids, protein denaturation, and nucleic acid extraction. It is also used in chromosome immunoprecipitation, SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE).
