    Applications

Thulium (Tm) is a rare earth element that belongs to the lanthanide series. It slowly tarnishes in air and thus needs to be stored properly. It is used as the radiation source in portable X-ray devices, and as additives in some solid-state lasers. Other applications include high-temperature superconductors, magnetic materials and arc lighting.
