Overview
Brookfield viscometers, including the Brookfield Cone/Plate Viscometer, operate by using a calibrated beryllium-copper alloy spring to drive a rotor that continuously rotates in the fluid. A rotational torque sensor measures the degree of torsional deformation (torque) of the spring, which is proportional to the resistance created by the viscous drag of the fluid on the immersed rotor. Thus, the torque is directly proportional to the viscosity of the liquid.
The DV-II+ Viscometer can measure a wide range of liquid viscosities, which depend on the size and shape of the rotor as well as the rotational speed. For a liquid with known viscosity, the torsion angle of the spring increases with the rotor's rotational speed and geometry. When measuring low-viscosity liquids, a combination of a large-volume rotor and high rotational speed is used. Conversely, for high-viscosity liquids, a smaller rotor and lower rotational speed are employed.
Testing Fluid Viscosity: The unit can display values in cP or mPa·s. Note: 1 mPa·s = 1 cP.
Viscosity Measurement Range of the Instrument: 1 cP to 6 McP.
Sample Requirement
Sample Volume: 20–500 mL.
By default, each sample is tested once. If multiple tests are required, please place separate orders for each test, and the sample volume should be increased accordingly to accommodate the additional tests.
