Overview

When a dielectric material is subjected to a sufficiently strong electric field, it loses its insulating properties and becomes a conductor, a phenomenon known as dielectric breakdown. The voltage at which this occurs is called the breakdown voltage, representing the material's upper limit for withstanding electric stress.

Breakdown voltage provides insight into the material's dielectric strength and pressure resistance. It is also a key indicator of the electrical performance of insulating oil, used to assess the extent of contamination by water or suspended particles, as well as to verify the effectiveness of drying and filtration processes before injecting the oil into equipment.

Sample Requirement

Please provide at least 5 parallel samples.

  • Thin film samples: Preferably larger than 7 cm, with a thickness less than 5 mm.
  • Ceramic and solid samples: Preferably close to 10 cm, with a thickness less than 2 mm.
