Kjeldahl Nitrogen Analyzer Analytical Service

Kjeldahl Nitrogen Analyzer is widely used for analyzing the nitrogen content or protein content in samples such as food, crops, seeds, soil, and fertilizers.

Proteins are nitrogen-containing organic compounds. Food is digested by heating it with sulfuric acid and a catalyst, causing the protein to decompose. The resulting ammonia combines with sulfuric acid to form ammonium sulfate. The mixture is then alkalized and distilled to release the ammonia, which is absorbed by boric acid and then titrated with a standard solution of sulfuric acid or hydrochloric acid. The protein content is calculated by multiplying the amount of acid consumed by a conversion factor.
