    Applications 

    Cerium Chloride Heptahydrate  (CeCl3 · 7H2O) is a light yellow rare earth salt. It is used as initial salt for other cerium components. Other applications include as a catalyst in Friedel-Crafts alkylation reactions, in organic synthesis for alkylation of ketones and Luche reduction.
