Femtosecond Transient Absorption Spectrometer (fs-TAS) Analytical Service
SKU: FSTAS001
Overview
Transient Absorption Spectroscopy (TAS) is a commonly used ultrafast laser pump-probe technique and a powerful tool for studying the relaxation processes of excited states during luminescence or non-radiative recombination events.
Sample Requirement
-
Powder Samples:
- Spin Coating: Spin-coat the powder onto high-transmittance quartz glass. Custom sizes (e.g., 2 cm × 2 cm) can typically be ordered online, and a thinner coating is better. Ensure an even spin coating so that light transmission is visible when viewed from a distance.
- Pressed Sample: Press the powder onto a slide to form a thin, light-transmitting layer. The quartz glass slide should be between 1 cm × 1 cm and 3 cm × 3 cm, with the powder pressed into a layer at least 5 mm × 5 mm. Fix the pressed powder between two slides, securing the corners with epoxy resin.
- Soluble Powders: Can be prepared as a uniform solution.
-
Bulk Samples:
- Thin Film and Coating Samples: Ensure a smooth, flat surface for more stable signal detection.
- Single Crystal Samples: Attach the sample to high-transmittance quartz glass (between 1 cm × 1 cm and 3 cm × 3 cm). The single crystal sample should be at least 3 mm × 3 mm, and one corner can be fixed with epoxy resin.
-
Liquid Samples:
- Liquid samples should be tested in a 1-2 mm path length cuvette. If sample preparation is required, the solute and solvent can be sent separately with suggested ratios, allowing adjustments based on signal strength. Toxic, flammable, and volatile solvents are not tested. Ideally, prepare and mix the liquid sample in advance for immediate testing. The liquid should be homogeneous, with no precipitation and good transparency. Suspensions are not recommended for liquid testing due to weak signals; instead, suspensions can be dried on quartz slides for coating tests.
-
Coating and Thin Film Samples:
- It is recommended to prepare several samples with varying concentrations, allowing the experimenter to select the most suitable sample based on signal quality.
