MSE PRO™ Coomassie Brilliant Blue R-250
The MSE PRO™ Coomassie Brilliant Blue R-250, Kaumas Brilliant Blue R-25 is a triamino triarylmethane dye in which two of the amino groups are benzylated and one is phenylated. It is bound to proteins by van der Waals bonds. It shows essentially the same color when bound to different proteins, and the area of the scanned peaks is linearly related to the amount of protein over a relatively wide range. Insoluble in cold water, slightly soluble in hot water shows bright red light blue, slightly soluble in ethanol shows bright blue. When met with concentrated sulfuric acid, it shows orange-red color. Its aqueous solution with sodium hydroxide shows purple color. Used for detecting protein bands after electrophoresis.

Applications:
Kaomas Brilliant Blue R-25 is widely used for the detection of protein bands after sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE), and also for staining agarose gels. It is also used to identify proteins within the protein body.
