Soluble in water, glycerol, propylene glycol, slightly soluble in methanol, ethanol, acetic acid, phenol and acetamide solution. Almost insoluble in most other organic solvents. It is acid-resistant, heat-resistant, and amino acids, proteins, etc. is not easy to Meladic reaction.

Applications:
As a bacterial culture supplement, it can be used in the preparation of selective plate media for the cultivation of sorbitol-fermented bacterial strains; one of the components in the preparation of Drosophila embryos for immunoelectron microscopy; used as a gas chromatography stationary solution for the separation and analysis of low-boiling-point oxygenated compounds, amine compounds, and nitrogen- or oxygen-containing heterocyclic compounds; used in biochemical research and organic synthesis.
