The MSE PRO™ Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) is an amphiphilic molecule containing both highly polar and nonpolar groups, which is soluble in both aqueous and organic solvents, making it an effective solvent for a wide range of applications. It can miscible with water, ethanol and ether, soluble in organic solvents such as acetone and chloroform, insoluble in alkanes. It is a flammable liquid with hygroscopicity, high polarity, high boiling point, non-protonic, miscible in water, low toxicity, good thermal stability, strong solvency, which can dissolve most organic substances, including carbohydrates, polymers, peptides, as well as a lot of inorganic salts and gases.
