    Applications 

    Erbium Chloride Hexahydrate (ErCl3 · 6H2O) is a pink rare earth salt. It is used in electrolysis to make metallic erbium. It is also used as a catalyst in the acylation of alcohols and phenols, for Friedel–Crafts-type reactions and Luche reductions.
