MSE PRO™ Monensin Sodium Salt
The MSE PRO™ Monensin, also known as “rumenin”, is a substance secreted by the microorganism Streptomyces cinnamomi, Monensin sodium salt is a polyether antibiotic that acts as a Na+ ion carrier by forming stable complexes with monovalent cations that can cross the plasma membrane. Blocks glycoprotein secretion. Inhibits the ability of HDL to reduce cellular cholesterol esterification. Also reported to induce catecholamine secretion from adrenal chromaffin cells. Freely soluble in lower alcohols, esters and chloroform, slightly soluble in acetone and petroleum ether, practically insoluble in water, readily inactivated in acidic solutions, stable under alkaline conditions, dry crystals can be stored for a long time.

Applications:
Used as sodium ion carrier. Used for blocking glycoprotein secretion, potential of alkali metal ion complexes and spectroscopic studies. It can be added into ruminant feeds to prevent and control coccidiosis in chickens, lambs, calves, rabbits and to promote the growth of ruminants.
