    Applications

Samarium (Sm) is a rare earth element that belongs to the lanthanide series. It is a moderately hard silvery metal that slowly oxidizes in air. The applications of Samarium include samarium–cobalt magnets, pressure sensor, as catalysts, to kill cancer cells, as a doping element in laser crystals, as a neutron capture in control rods of nuclear reactors.
