Nanoindentation / Nanoscratch Analytical Service
SKU: NINS001
Overview
A nanoindenter is primarily used to measure hardness and elastic modulus at the nanoscale. It can be utilized to study or test the contact stiffness, creep, elastic work, plastic work, fracture toughness, fatigue, storage modulus, and loss modulus of nanomaterials, including thin films. It is suitable for analyzing both organic and inorganic materials, whether soft or hard. Applications include testing PVD, CVD, PECVD films, photosensitive films, decorative coatings, optical films, microelectronic coatings, protective films, and decorative films. Substrates can be soft or hard materials, including metals, alloys, semiconductors, glass, minerals, and organic materials.
The scratch test quantifies the adhesion performance of various film-substrate combinations by using different sensors (acoustic emission, scratch displacement, friction force) and observing critical load data through a video microscope.
Sample Requirements
-
The sample should have a diameter of 3–30mm and a height of 0–10mm (rectangular or cylindrical).
-
The top and bottom surfaces of the sample should be parallel and polished with no visible scratches to the naked eye.
-
Irregular or very small samples need to be embedded in resin and polished.
-
Hard resin must be used for embedding the samples.
