Mössbauer Spectrometer Analytical Service

Overview

The Mössbauer spectrometer uses the recoil-free resonant absorption effect of atomic nuclei (Mössbauer effect) to measure the interaction between Mössbauer nuclei and the hyperfine field, providing information on valence states, spin states, coordination environment, and phase composition. Mössbauer spectroscopy is characterized by high resolution and strong anti-interference capabilities, and it has wide applications in fields such as physics, chemistry, materials science, physical metallurgy, biology and medicine, geology, mineralogy, and archaeology.

Sample Requirement

• Powdered samples are preferred, finely ground so they feel smooth to the touch. For bulk, film, or liquid samples, please first consult with Compass staff to confirm conditions before placing an order.

• The sample quantity should be at least 100 mg. If the Fe content is low, please provide as much sample as possible.

• If the sample contains other metal elements at high concentrations, please discuss with the responsible specialist to confirm whether it can be measured.

• If the Fe content in the sample is very low, the testing time may be extended, and the fee may increase, depending on testing feasibility. Please contact the responsible specialist to confirm specific costs.

• Additionally, if the iron content in the sample is too low, consider labeling with Fe-57.
