Uses of Scandium Metal Powder
Scandium metal powder is the raw material for preparing scandium-containing alloys and targets by powder metallurgy process. Scandium has a good alloying effect on alloy targets. Adding it to aluminum can generate a dispersed Al3Sc phase, which greatly refines the structure of the aluminum alloy, thereby improving its strength. The aluminum-scandium alloy target has corrosion resistance and radiation resistance. It has the advantages of strong strength, low resistivity and high thermal stability, and can meet the requirements for coating and use of substrate electrode layers and large-scale integrated circuit wiring materials.
Scandium metal and aluminum-scandium alloy powder are also important raw materials for preparing high-performance 3D printing aluminum alloys. There are currently two systems of high-strength aluminum alloy 3D printing powders: Al-Mg-Sc-Zr system and Al-Mn-Sc-Zr system. The yield strength of the currently mass-produced Al-Mg-Sc-Zr system 3D printing powder material can reach 500 -600MPA.
