The MSE PRO™ Carboxybenzylpenicillin disodium is a penicillin derivative antibiotic, which is a derivative obtained by semi-synthesizing the side chain of penicillin G. It is also a derivative of benzylpenicillin. It contains a carboxybenzyl group in its chemical structure, hence the name carboxybenzylpenicillin. It can inhibit both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. It is sensitive to light, unstable to heat and hygroscopic. Easily soluble in water, aqueous solution gradually decomposed, in acid, alkali solution is extremely unstable. Soluble in ethanol, methanol, benzene and glacial acetic acid, insoluble in ether and chloroform.
