MSE PRO™ Ethylene Glycol Bis(2-Aminoethyl)Tetraacetic Acid

The MSE PRO™ EGTA is an aminopolycarboxylic acid chelator capable of chelating 2-valent metal ions except Mg2+. Compared with EDTA, EGTA has a weaker affinity for magnesium ions and is therefore more selective for calcium ions. It is soluble in alkaline solutions and almost insoluble in water.

Applications:

Used as a chelating agent for metal ions and as a complexing agent and masking agent for measuring trace metals in volumetric and photometric analysis. Also titrates barium, strontium, copper, magnesium and zinc. Used to prepare calcium buffer and control the concentration of calcium ions.
