The Karl Fischer titration (KFT) is a chemically selective method for determining water content in different matrices. The high selectivity to water represents the major advantage of the KF titration with respect to the weight loss technique: only the water content is determined, since iodine selectively reacts with water. The KF titration is a fast analysis. Moreover, automation can improve reproducibility and precision.
