MSE PRO™ Sodium Carbonate, Anhydrous

The MSE PRO™ Sodium Carbonate, Anhydrous is the sodium salt of carbonic acid, an inorganic compound. Easily soluble in water, hygroscopic, aqueous solution is strongly alkaline. Insoluble in alcohol. In the air, it is easy to deliquesce and form lumps, and absorb CO2 to form sodium bicarbonate. It can be decomposed at high temperature to produce sodium oxide and carbon dioxide. Sodium carbonate anhydrous is a strong base and weak acid salt, can react with most proton acids (strong acidic percarbonic acid), carbon dioxide is generated when the acid is in excess, and sodium bicarbonate is generated when it is not in excess (baking soda). It is widely used in biochemistry and molecular biology research.

Brand: MSE PRO™

Manufacturer: MSE Supplies LLC

MSE Supplies offers a variety of Biochemical Reagents. Please contact us for SDS, lead time and more information.

Applications:

Widely used in biochemistry and molecular biology research, most commonly used as a buffer component in chromatography, capillary electrophoresis and enzyme catalysis applications. Ideal for separating cell membranes, membrane proteins and hydrophobic proteins. In chemistry, used as an electrolyte and acts as a good conductor in electrolysis. Because it is solid, air-stable and easily weighed, sodium carbonate is used as the primary standard in acid-base titrations. Used in chromatography and protein separation techniques.
