Electronic Nose Analytical Service

Overview

An electronic nose is an electronic system that mimics the human olfactory system, using response patterns from an array of gas sensors to identify odors. The PEN series electronic nose, produced by Germany's AIRSENSE company, includes 10 different metal oxide sensors within a compact volume of only 1.8 mL. The detection limit for the thermal sensor is as low as 1 PPM. The selectivity of the sensors depends on factors such as the sensor materials, dopants, operating temperature, and physical shape. The sensors used exhibit strong selectivity for sulfur-based compounds, methane, hydrogen, ethanol, and hydrocarbons.

Sample Requirement

• Liquid Samples: Each replicate requires 5 mL.
• Solid Samples: For samples with low odor, each replicate requires 10-20 g; for samples with strong odor, 10 mg to 1 g is sufficient.
• Gas Samples: Each replicate requires at least 400 mL.
