Excitation-Emission-Matrix Spectra (EEMS) is a spectral fingerprint technology with wide application value. It describes the relationship between fluorescence intensity and changes in excitation wavelength and emission wavelength. It can monitor all components in the sample by scanning and is suitable for spectral characterization of complex mixtures.

Compared with a single excitation spectrum or emission spectrum, EEMS contains comprehensive and rich information, which can fully describe the image characteristics of fluorescent substances, such as emission peak position, fluorescence intensity, emission integral volume, and is suitable for qualitative and quantitative analysis of complex organic matter.
