MSE PRO™ Glucose-6-Phosphate Dehydrogenase, Lyophilized
The MSE PRO™ Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G-6-PDH) consists of a His-Asp catalytic duplex and exists as a homodimer. Structurally, G-6-PDH contains a dinucleotide-binding region consisting of a Rossmann fold within the coenzyme-binding structural domain. It also has a larger beta + alpha structural domain with a unique aspartic acid residue at position 374. Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase can use nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADP+) or NAD+ as a coenzyme and has an important role in bacterial metabolism. Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase catalyzes the conversion of glucose-6-phosphate to gluconolactone 6-phosphate as the first step in the pentose phosphate pathway.

Applications:
It can be used in biochemical studies as an enzyme in erythrocyte glucose metabolism, which serves to maintain reduced glutathione and reduced coenzyme II (NADPH), maintains reducing capacity within erythrocytes, and prevents damage to erythrocytes such as hydrogen peroxide. In addition, it catalyzes the dehydrogenation reaction of glucose 6-phosphate, which can be used for enzymatic detection of NAD+ (or NADP+), glucose 6-phosphate, glucose phosphate isomerase, glucose phosphate translocase, and hexokinase. In combination with hexokinase, it can be used for the enzymatic detection of glucose.
