MSE PRO™ Lysozyme

The MSE PRO™ Lysozyme is a glycoside hydrolase, consisting of 18 kinds of 129 amino acid residues, specifically acting on the microbial cell wall hydrolase, also known as cell wall lysis enzyme. Lysozyme preferentially hydrolyzes the β-1,4 glycosidic bonds between N-acetylcytidylic acid and N-acetylglucosamine, which occur in the mucopeptide cell wall structures of some microorganisms, such as Coccidioides lysosporus. Slightly limited activity was shown towards chitin oligomers. The enzyme is active over a wide pH range (6.0 to 9.0). The optimum pH is 9.2.

Applications:

Lysozyme lyses the cell walls of Gram-positive bacteria and has a strong killing effect on them. It has a wide range of prospects for use in food preservation (especially cheese and sake production), pharmaceuticals (tablets, capsules, eye drops, lozenges), and scientific research. It shows a slightly limited activity against chitin oligomers. Other applications are bacterial cell wall disintegration and genomic DNA extraction.
