MSE PRO™ PEG 8000

The MSE PRO™ PEG 8000, Polyethylene Glycol, abbreviated as “PEG” and Polyethylene Glycol 8000, indicating that the average molecular weight of the polyethylene glycol is about 8000, is a synthetic hydrophilic biocompatible polymer. As the molecular weight increases, its water solubility, vapor pressure, water absorption and solubility in organic solvents decrease accordingly, while the solid point, relative density, flash point and viscosity increase accordingly. It is heat stable, does not react with many chemicals and is not hydrolyzed. Miscible in water, soluble in many organic solvents, such as alcohols, ketones, chloroform, glycerol esters and aromatic hydrocarbons, insoluble in most aliphatic hydrocarbons and ether.

Applications:

PEG is widely used in the configuration of yeast transformation buffer, also can be used as part of the virus isolation buffer, lentivirus particle concentration, herpesvirus NEC crystallization. It is also used as a substrate to adjust the viscosity and melting point in cosmetics industry, as a lubricant and coolant in rubber and metal processing industry, as a dispersant and emulsifier in pesticide and pigment industry, and as an antistatic agent and lubricant in textile industry.
